Fall Festival

2009 Fall Festival and Competition:
"The Historical Periods of Music"

The purpose of the Fall Festival is to give students the opportunity to be evaluated performing before a judge. Each student will receive a written critique and either a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Medal, or a Participant’s Ribbon. A recital of the Gold Medal winners and awards ceremony will be held the day following the auditions.

Eligibility:
  • Teachers entering participants must be active members in good standing of PMTA.
  • Teachers and students must abide by the Participation Requirements and the Guidelines for All PMTA Events.
  • Students entered must have studied with the current teacher at least three (3) months before the registration deadline.
  • Teachers may enter any number of students. Chairperson(s) may enter students.
Non-Refundable Registration Fees:
  • Elementary I and II: $16.00
  • Intermediate: $19.00
  • Advanced: $21.00

Registration Deadline: October 16, 2009

Divisions:
  • Elementary I (grades K-3) -- level 2-3, minimum length 12 measures
  • Elementary II (grades 4-5) – minimum level 3
  • Intermediate (grades 6-8) – minimum level 4
  • Advanced (grades 9-12) – minimum level 5
Categories:
  • Category A: Student must perform two selection memorized. Student is eligible for Gold Medal Winner's Recital if a gold medal is awarded.
  • Category B: Student performs two selections for evaluation only – memory optional. Student of any age may register in Category B. No medals can be awarded - participation ribbon only.
Repertoire:
  • Elementary I – Each student is to perform two pieces: one from Baroque period (or any polyphonic piece), and the other piece from a period of their choice (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Post-romantic or Contemporary/Modern).
  • Elementary II, Intermediate, Advanced – Each student is to perform two pieces: one from the Baroque period and one from a period of their choice (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Post-romantic or Contemporary/Modern).
